~omh~ is a 2023 yumplike lead by Daizo Dee Von and Squirrelyman157 assisted by an anonymous group called Team JANK, a parody group that has no relation to JUMP Team. Like the YUMP series, ~omh~ embraces it's chaotic heritage by throwing anything at the wall and seeing what sticks. Like R-ACK, the game's got some very unique levels, examples being You can enter this pipe but, I always come back, and TERRA TUBES to name a few. Unlike R-ACK, this contains a full 7 worlds, each containing a brand new custom boss against a sinister group called the Secondary Exits.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers, and is recommended to beat the game before reading further.

Overview

  • One of the very few SMW ROM Hacks to contain original bosses for each world.
  • One of the few pieces of media in general to take place in the middle of a story.
  • Contains 100 exits, doubling the exit count of R-ACK's 50.
  • Every world boss is an exit from the Mario series, mimicking how R-ACK's main final boss is also an exit.
  • The plumber can take on various alternate "forms" that change up the gameplay of the level.
  • A bigger number of storehouses, this time with traditional 1-up farms.
  • A unique 1-up upgrade system that increases the cap of your lives.

Story

Spider-Plumber helps The Plumber reach the pipe that takes place after "Your Friendly Neighbourhood Mario," and The Plumber is on their way towards "This level is pretty scary." But while crossing Cat World, they take a wrong turn and discover a brand new level. They make it to the goal post, only to be pushed into a pit by a mysterious figure simply known as "EVIGI." In the pit, The Plumber senses that a group called the SECONDARY EXITS are wanting to revive Goaldobadorrer, and it's up to him to stop the ritual.

Characters / Groups

There are a lot more characters this time around thanks to the inclusion of NPCs in the various storehouses.

The Plumber

The protagonist. Is a being of pure interpretation. Inspired by OFF's "The Batter." He ends up in various forms:

  1. A Head
  2. Dead
  3. Diagonal
  4. Longio

EVIGI

The mysterious figure responsible for pushing The Plumber into the world of Omh Land.

Residence of Om Homh

Mainly cut sprites from the game "Golden Sun" on the Gameboy Advance.

Residence of Impurity City

Various masked koopas, alongside a cameo of "Mutt" from the chaos edition of SMW: The After Years, taking form of his redesign from the sequel.

Residence of In-vein Village

Mainly the SMW Cutting Room floor sprite of the old Bowser Statue enemies, alongside a cameo of CLDC 26th placed boss "Mike Bowser" and Farolicious' original character "Minta."

Residence of Snowbarrage House

Various sprites of cow flowers and panguins, mixed with various cameos ranging from Anorakun's ROM Hack to Deltarune's Spamton to Mega Man Sprite Comic's "Mega Man."

Residence of The InfiniTower

A very tall tower containing sprites from Mazekko Monster, Alwa's Awakening, Mega Man 2, and Kirby's Adventure.

SECONDARY EXITS

The main villains of ~omh~. In order:

  1. Scallyflag the Flag
  2. Tony Hawkmouth the Mask Gate
  3. Shroom Dealer the Roulette
  4. Gate KEY'Per the Key
  5. "Cube the Orbitual" the Goal Sphere
  6. Locke Jaw the Keyhole
  7. RING LEADER the Flower Ring
  8. SHROOM BREAKER the Axe (NPC Only)
  9. The Tower of the Exits
  10. Slaybell The Bell
  11. Goaldobadorrer the Goal Post (Cutscene Only)

Ultima Hawkmouth

The final boss, who is simply the combined form of the first 7 bosses, taking the form of a martial artist.

Reception

Right now, most reception comes from the C3 early beta that was released to find all the various problems...and there were a fair amount of problems, as expected from an early release. Despite this, it's quickly becoming just as memorable as R-ACK, right down to the sheer ridiculousness stages get. Most agree the hack gets ludicrously hard by World 5 thanks to levels getting longer and stages getting more precise. Some of the gags overstay their welcome a bit, mostly due to missing checkpoints but a few in particular with checkpoints aren't helped. But even in the bonkers moments, it is indeed the successor thanks to the amount of content and the more wacky level gimmicks.

It seems like Team JANK put thunder in a bottle once again, even branded by a streamer as "the next JUMP Team."
