VS is a 9 volt supply as described on the jwdonal schematic. It is connected to (at least):

Q18, a BJT who's emitter appears to generate it
Q16's collector
Q17's collector
R49, which itself is connected to the MUTE line
R50, which itself is connected to the Post-Amplifier
C80
The Pre-Amplifier D op-amp
The SHVC-SOUND Connector
